Valentine's Day Songs

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is the nicest of all!
It comes in the winter which comes after fall.
We send out valentines in envelopes.
So let's send each other this message so true...
To all of our friends we'll say, "I love you!"

My Valentines (tune: Farmer in the Dell)

I have a little valentine
That someone sent to me
It's pink and white and red and blue
And pretty as can be!

How Many Valentines?

Note: (this can be done with hearts on the flannel board. Each child can add their own)
Valentines, valentines how many do you see?
Count them with me...
One for _________(hold up one finger)
*continue saying names of all children and counting on children until everyone is counted.
And here is one for Me! (make a heart shape with thumbs and pointer fingers)

All I Really Need

All I really need is a song in my heart
Food in my belly
And love in my family.
All I really need is a song in my heart
And love in my family!

The Queen of Hearts

The Queen of Hearts,
She made some tarts
All on a summer's day.
The Knave of Hearts,
He stole those tarts
And took them clean away.
The King of Hearts,
Called for the tarts
Said the Knave would have to pay.

Heart of Gold Fingerplay (give each child one gold and one red heart)

Some hearts are made of paper (hold out read heart),
Some hearts are made of stone (hide read heart ad scowl).
Some hearts are made of gold (hold out gold heart),
Some hearts will always roam (flutter both hearts in the air).
But the heart that's in my chest (point to your heart in chest),
Likes you the very best (point to a friend)!

How Do I Love Thee? -Fingerplay

How do I love thee (spread ams in a questioning fashion)?
Let me count the ways (put up five fingers spread out)!
One! My heart is ablaze (hold up one finger and place over heart)!
Two! My stomach is full of bees (put up two fingers and rub belly)!
Three! I 've got wobble-ly knees (put up three fingers and shake knees)!
Four! My hair is on end (put up four fingers and tug hair upward)!
Five! I love you I can't pretend (put up five fingers and blow a kiss)!

From Me with Love (tune:This Old Man)

I love Mom. Mom loves me.
We're a loving family.
I have lot's of hugs
And kisses to give to you!
Oh, yes Mom, I love YOU!
*Sing this song then have children suggest other people they love and replace 'Mom' with those names.

I Love You (tune:This Old Man)

I love you, if you love me,
Say my valentine you'll be.
If you say no, I will be very blue.
If you say yes, my dream's come true!

Finger Hearts

See my fingers wide apart? (hold up thumb and index finger for both hands)
I'll put them together and make a heart (touch tips of thumbs, curve index fingers slightly, touching at tips)
