Heart On My Sleeve Valentine's Game

This is a good game to teach caring and friendship skills.

What you need

• Heartshaped cutouts, one per child, made from cardstock or craft foam
• Jewelery pins- the type that lock closed and are flat on the back-one per
• child
• hot glue
• marker
• hat or bag

Steps

1. Write each child's name on one of the hearts and glue the heart to a jewelery pin. Place in bag.
2. Dicuss with the children what makes a good friend.
3. Let each child chose a pin from the bag. If a child chooses her/his own name it is returned to the bag and a new pin is chosen.
4. Help the children read the name on the pin the have chosen and pin it to their sleeve.
5. Explain that the person whose name is on each child's sleeve is now that child's special friend for the class. Encourage the children to show "good friend" behaviours, as discussed earlier, to the person who's heart is on their sleeve.
